The 22nd edition of the Comida di Buteco contest started this Friday (8), with 21 participating bars in Fortaleza. The establishments compete for the title of Best Buteco in the city, trying to conquer the taste and the preference of the public and of a committee of judges, who will evaluate the snacks prepared especially for the contest, in addition to giving marks for the service, the hygiene of the bar and the temperature of drinks.
The champion buteco from Fortaleza will also compete for the national title, in the second stage of the contest, which takes place in June, when a new jury must visit the winners of each circuit. From there, the Best Buteco in Brazil of 2022 is elected.
Competing dishes have a single price of R$ 27. According to the organization, the idea is to offer them at a fair price that allows the public to experience the creations of the bars to the fullest.

Voting for the contest is in person. Each customer who tastes the competing snack will receive a ballot and must give his or her rating on the spot. Each criterion is evaluated with a score from 0 to 10. The public vote is worth 50% of the total weight and that of the judges 50%. The circuit will run until the 1st of May in the capital.
Among the novelties for this year is the amount charged for snacks participating in the contest. All will be available for a fixed price of R$ 27.00 (twenty-seven reais). The idea is to offer them at a fair price that allows the public to experience the pubs’ creations to the fullest.
In this edition, the theme is free and the participating dishes will not have mandatory ingredients in the recipes. In this way, the circuit promises even more diversity of flavors, textures and seasonings.
With the theme “Buteco Vive”, the mission of Comida di Buteco 2022 is to continue celebrating the cuisine from scratch and valuing small businesses and entrepreneurs in the area of gastronomy.
No establishment pays to participate in the contest. The participants are pubs run by the owners themselves and their families, who do not belong to chains or franchises. The purpose of the contest is to encourage the public to get to know and live the different gastronomic and cultural experiences that the places can provide, helping to maintain the market and the tradition of butecos throughout Brazil.
